Pie Contest 2017
On Saturday, October 28, 2017, the Grand Coteau Cultural Foundation, Inc. will hold its 6th Annual Sweet Dough Pie Festival. The event will take place from 9am to 3pm on the green grounds of St. Charles Catholic Church, Festivites include a sweet dough pie contest, food, over 100 arts and crafts booths, live music, and trolley tours of the historic community and church grounds.
The mission of the Grand Coteau Cultural Foundation is to promote awareness of our unique culture, history, and spiritual foundation. We would love to invite you to participate in our fesival as a contestant in the sweet dough pie contest. This year's contest has changed, in that it will include all bakers and will be limited to four different pie flavors: sweet potato; custard; blackberry; and fig. The pies will be judged by the public this year, so you are asked to submit 2 9in. pies in each flavor of your choice, in disposable pie pans. (to allow plenty for tasting),
The entry fee is $10 for first pie flavor and $5 for every other pie flavor you wish to enter. Pies are to be submitted by 9:30am. Tasting/judging by the public will take place from 10am to 11:30 am. Tickets will be sold for $5 for the privilege of judging. A first and second place prize will be awarded in each pie flavor, as well as BEST OVERALL PRIZE!!
If you would like to sell pies at the festival, please request a vendor booth for a fee of $50.
